Dear Members and Friends of the Center,

Our groundbreaking April 27-30 conference on "Re-Igniting the Spirit of
America: A Summit on Values, Spirituality and Governance" was a
tremendous success. Most of the plenary speakers received standing
ovations, and Ralph Nader (running for President on the Green Party
ticket) made a surprise last minute appearance. Another special guest
was Ethel Kennedy, introduced by her son, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. who
gave a tremendous speech that electrified everyone. Stories on the
conference were featured in The Washinton Post, The Washington Times,
and several other papers around the country.

Participant feedback was excellent and there was tremendous interest in
having us do it again next year. An exciting new initiative born from
the conference is the League of Spiritual Voters, which we are
developing with a group of speakers from the conference. (Check our
website for information next month.)

Those of you who attended this conference (as well as those who did not
but are interested in this theme) are invited to join us for a follow-up
meeting at our Center on Monday, June 5 at 7:30 pm. (3408 Wisconsin Ave.
NW Suite 200, Washington, DC) to share experiences from the conference,
explore next steps, and help develop the League of Spiritual Voters.
Please R.S.V.P. at (202) 237-2800 if you'd like to atttend.

Tapes of all the keynote sessions and most of the breakouts are now
available from us- call us for a tape list or visit our website
http://www.visionarylead.org/Summit2000_orderform.htm . Our website now
has a special section on Spirituality and Politics (
http://www.visionarylead.org/spiritualityandpolitics.htm ) with
conference follow-up news. Excerpts of many conference presentations are
posted (with more to follow), as well as news from around the country on
spirituality and politics.

We especially want to thank all of you who volunteered your time so
generously for the conference, and those who distributed fliers around
town and emails to friends and colleagues. We had a great turnout, with
over half of the attendees from around the country.

With Love and Best Wishes,

Corinne McLaughlin and Gordon Davidson
