Hi gang (and Bill),
I don't think drugs have anything to do with Elian's (SP?) condition. I
think his condition is a result of what's been happening to him. Read below.
> "The boy has been forced to pose for TV cameras day and night with
> people he does not know and who are unscrupulously manipulating him," he
>(the boy's father)
> wrote. "That rude invasion of his privacy and disrespect for his

>things
> do not happen again."

As you can read above, the boy has been nothing but a pinball for Cuba and
the States. No one has bothered to ask Elian where he wants to live. Maybe
he wants to live in the States. Don't his wishes count? He has a right to
voice his opinion. Ask him! If he says he wants to stay in the States, then
accept it and get over it. It always amazes me that we adults always seem to
know "what's best for the children". Yet, we never ask the children what
they want. He is a human being. He has the right to have his views and
wishes listened to and abided by. This kid has been ruined for life, and for
what? Just so a nation can save face? Give me a break. I wonder what would
happen if this situation was reversed. Would we play "pinball" with the
child involved? I wonder. Ask Elian, accept his decision, get over it, and
let's get on with more important issues, like homelessness.
Bonnie
